You might want to rethink this if you want to unlock the 600 Blade Combo Finishers node without specifically grinding it out. It helps spread them out if you bring Tora along while doing quests.

as soon as you have access to that full area at the beginning of the chapter 5 you can easily farm gold chips from a level 60-62 monster on the south end

if you're not strong enough to beat it yet you can put a pentagon chip on dromarch for the 1% chance to instantly kill it.

Every gold chip you get also increases drops by 50% so it gets easier and easier to obtain

You can also use a Driver Combo and get the Gold Chips from the items you Smash out of the enemy. You don't even need to be able to survive very long in the battle to do this.

At first it went "okay." All until I was down to one left. (It turned out to be Adenine.) There was like a 72% chance the game detected I was one away and decided to activate Troll Mode. I didn't keep track of the exact number, but in my quest to get that last damn Rare Blade it took something like 35 Legendary Cores and 100 Rare Cores. (I had given up on Normal Cores at this point, judging it a waste of time.) But finally it happened. It's over. It's finally over.

That was actually the game being nice to you. I had to use 230 Legendary Cores to get my last Rare Blade. >_>

It is moddable to do so, though.

Zeke is shown as playable in some Xenoblade 2 commercials so GameFAQs does not consider it a violation to talk about him. It's left to the users to decide if they want to hide his name or not.

I'm not sure if there are any details about what the quests are other than what chapter they can be started in.

I think I have like 30 4* Blades. I've actually released quite a few of them because I didn't think I would ever get around to raising them. >_> They actually aren't all that rare when you have a perfect set up. I ended up getting one 4* Blade every 6 Legendary Cores on average. When you use 100+ Cores, that's quite a few 4*s.

Yeah, those are probably the best enemies to fight for exp to reach Lv99. They give tons of exp and aren't too hard to beat even at a level disadvantage. I went from Lv84 to Lv99 in around 2 hours.

Reeking Douglas didn't live up to the hype for me. It's kinda weak so you can fight it at a lower level. However, it's a bit too weak so you'll end up killing it and wasting time respawning it at higher levels and I already trained my team to Lv99. You also have to do a new Blade combo each time to seal its reinforcements. I tried measuring the rate at which I got Legendary Cores and found Cloud Sea King Ken to be much faster. Cloud Sea King Ken doesn't really hit that hard and has a large HP total so it takes a good 10 or so minutes before I need to respawn it again. For Cloud Sea King I liked using a Blade combo that ended with Wind to block Blowdown but it's optional.

230 Legendary Cores later my Blade collection is complete! It was 271 Cores total to get my last 2 Blades so my prediction of 200-300 turned out to be pretty good.

Even so, 230 cores to get my last Blade while under optimum setup is still pretty rough.

The player gets cheering whenever they get an important item so you can connect the cheering there to the item collected. One example would be ChristosOwen got the Big Key in the Tower of Ganon. The cheering immediately afterwards wasn't that loud. He might be able to guess that Andy already got it but he also knows that Andy isn't done the run yet. From that he can guess that he is only a few rooms behind at most.

I think noise cancelling headphones won't complete block out a really loud cheer. I wonder if the runners were able to tell that their opponent found a key item before them based on how loud the cheering was.

I'm down to just two more 5* Blades. Supposedly this is where there's a difficulty spike in getting more 5* Blades. So far I think I've been pretty lucky. I've very rarely gone over 20 Cores without drawing a new 5* and that was usually when I was using Common cores. I've got a 999 Luck set up and Lv10 Justice so hopefully I only need 200-300 more Legendary Cores to finish this up.

The defining characteristic of gacha is you're gaining characters/gameplay, not just items. It's not like a weapon or potion or whatever, but a whole section of gameplay that you are gambling for.

In other words, an RPG game is often about grinding to unlock items that help you in the game, but a gacha game is about grinding to unlock the actual game.

I don't think that's true. Like Fire Emblem Heroes is definitely a gacha game but you just need to get strong characters from the gacha to complete content. The content itself is not tied to getting specific strong characters. Also I remember someone here was whaling for a Buster Sword from one of the FF gacha games.

I think a lot of the time that data comes from extracting it out of the game's data. So it isn't possible on any Switch game at the moment.

The other method of figuring out drop rates is killing an enemy multiple times and recording what you get. If the it's a 50% or 25% it doesn't require that many kills to get a rough idea. If it's a 1% or 0.1% drop, you'll need hundreds or thousands of kills. If a person is willing to gather the data, this method can be done in Xenoblade 2 as well for the gacha system.

I ended up with a Common Blade that has the Orb Master V Battle skill. It's pretty cool. What it does is make every hit in a Blade Combo generate an Orb (if there isn't already an Orb of that element). Furthermore, the effect is party wide for some reason. So if the Lv1, Lv2 and Lv3 Specials are 3 different elements I get 3 Orbs. I can pretty much set up an 8 Orb Full Burst in two and a half Blade combos.

Ursula's quest is a good way to raise common Blades to get WP items. I'm still running it constantly even through I got her to A rank a long time ago. One problem with this is it also means I can never user her in an actual battle.

That's not quite correct. You can get any Blade from a Common Core, even the rarest Blade in the game. It just isn't particularly likely. Although even with the best Cores don't give you that great a chance at getting that Blade.

They were a few seconds ahead after MM1 but a few seconds behind when starting MM2. There wasn't any major problem during the switch. They just happened to be a few seconds slower than the other team.

The characters are story are solid. The cutscenes are very well done. The battle interface is a step up from Xenoblade 1 and combat feels good in general. The world is big and there are lots of quests to do.

The gacha system is definitely a turn off to a lot of people. You can get a fair number of the Rare Blade without too much trouble but rarity seems to increase as you collect more of them. As a result it takes a long time to get all of them. There are also quests attached to each Rare Blade. On one hand it's cool that you actually get to interact with them but it also means that if you don't get them from the gacha you do miss out on actual content.

There menu system is close to being good but there are some strange decisions that make it harder to use than it should. Like when scrolling through all of your equipment or Blades you'll wish there were better sorting options than there are. There are also other things in the game that cause you to have to visit the menu a bit often which can hurt the flow of the game.

Chapter 6. The very beginning. Instead of walking 300 meters in the direction the plot wanted to I went on one of my ~world tours~ and talked to everyone in the entire world. And did sidequests.

The area with the music I didn't care for was Temperania (...I think I spelled that wrong. >_>), which I went exploring in since it opened up for real now.

Yeah, I didn't really like the music there either. I guess it does fit the the kind of place it is, though.

The world also feels a lot smaller/less alive/less "wow" than Xenoblade or especially X. Which is unfortunate. I also feel like if it weren't for the fact that I go wandering off exploring AT ALL TIMES that this would be surprisingly short so far for a Xeno game if you just hopped from story beat to story beat. Heck, even if you throw in the actual quests even.

For what it's worth, the speed run record for Xenoblade 2 is considerably longer than for XCX. Although, it's not really a fair comparison since the Xenoblade 2 run is far less optimized. It's probably not the greatest idea to judge the length of a Xeno game based on runs that skips all cutscenes either. >_>
